COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)

DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 ROSEM0UNT MODEL 1153 AND 1154 TRANSMITTERS SDAR: CP-89-007 (INTERIM REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On March 20, 1989, TV Electric verbally notified the NRC of a potential deficiency involving the potential failure of Rosemount transmitters (Models 1153 and 1154). Rosemount has issued a 10CFR21 notification that addresses the possible failure of the transmitter sensing modules due to internal fill fluid leakage.

This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).

The evaluation of the safety impact of this issue on plant operations is continuing.

The next report will be issued by July 31, 1989.

Sincerely, William J. Cahill, Jr.
