Attachment Additional Information on Probabilistic Risk Assessment for Limerick Generating Station, Unit 2 Request:

Based upon the Probabilistic Risk Assessment carried out for Unit 1, provide an estimate of the seismic HCLPF (High Confidence of Low i

Probability of Failure) of Unit 2.

Is it any different for Unit I?

Provide the infonnation upon which you base your estimate.

Addltlonal Information:

On October 10, 1984, PECo presented to the LGS ACRS Subcorm11ttee a discussion on the seismic design and margins available for events above the safe shutdown eart'auake (SSE). That presentation discussed the seismic design basis cf 0.15 SSE and its application, including conservatism applied, and the fragility methodology used to determine margins. HCLPF's at core damage and three other scenarios were provided.

Philadelphia Electric Company has made a concerted effort to maintain the designs of Limerick Generating Station Units 1 and 2 as identical as possible. This effort has been successful in the seismic design area as evidenced by the small number of differences identifled in PECO's submittal of March 7, 1989 which discussed the extension of the seismic qualification program for Limerick Generating Station to Unit 2.

Seismic and dynamic qualification of this different Unit 2 equipnunt was bounded by the qualification criteria of the Unit 1 equipment. On this basis, PECO expects that the Unit 2 HCLPF's would be sinillar to Unit 1.
