(a) May 6, 1987 letter from K.A. Ainger to US NRC Centlemoa The Byron Unit 1 Inservice Inspection (ISI) Program has been developed to meet the requirements of the ASME Code Section XI, 1980 Edition with Addenda through Winter 1981 Addenda. The comercial operation date of Byron Unit 2 necessitates the use of the 1983 Edition of the ASME Code for the Unit 2 ISI program.
In order to maintain a consistent inspection program for Units 1 and 2, we proposed to use the 1980 Edition of the ASME Code for both units. This was documented in reference (a).
Upon further review, we have decided to use the 1983 Edition of the ASME Code with Addenda through Summer 1983 Addenda for Byron Units 1 and 2.
The Byron ISI Program Plan will be revised accordingly by the start of the Unit I refueling outage scheduled for September, 1988.
