When'I see the devastation committ'ed by -anti-Shoreham hysteria I'

wonder. if Long Island is still-a safe place L to live 'and' build a business, not because of nuclear ' concerns, but' because of.a few maniacs who have whipped public opinion into such a frenzy.that business and employment are'an endangered species here.

I urge the intervention of 'the NRC to ~ block.the application ' to

.q transfer the Shoreham license from LILCO to.the State'of New York i

for the purposes of decommissioning and dismantling the plant. It is my opinion that the plant _ should operate. However, should the i

NRC agree that the plant not operate, it should be preserved intact as the Island's needs, technologies, or attitudes. may change in the future. The Shoreham plant'should not be destroyed as provided 'in the deal with the State-of New York. Long Island needs to have the infrastructure to provide quality growth and

- opportunities for our young people.
