Dear Sir:

In accordance with the monitoring and reporting requirements of the subject order, attached is a summary of the Hastewater Quality Monitoring Program at Rancho Seco for May 1989.

Additional comments are as follows:

hwK 1.

Rancho Seco operated between 60% and 92% power during the month of May.

g wno.

ago-2.

The maximum wastewater flow rate was 16,250 gpm for one quarter hour on h

May 5, 1989.

3.

Hastewater discharges amounted to 384.2 million gallons for May.

rw 4.

The total dissolved solids (TDS) maximum in the wastewater discharged was M

280 ppm, based on conductivity.

This level resulted from a retention basin release on May 29, 1989.

85 co n.o:

5.

Flow through the sewage plant averaged 14,687 gpd.

1 6.

Visual inspections of the site boundary indicated no floating or suspended matter, discoloration, or bottom deposits.

7.

The high total coliform values recorded during the month of May are attributed to sample contamir.7 tion caused by very low flows (less than 2 gpm) encountered during the manth. Also, no flow was experienced for 3 days during May; therefore, no samples were taken those days.
