MEETING WITH GEORGIA POWER CO.
1 We met with Mr. S. Tipps, representation of Georgia Power Co. (licensee) at 11:00 a.m. on April 17, 1989, at the Maryland National Bank Building.
The licensee requested information on criteria used by NRC to classify operating events as safety system failures in the Performance Indicator (PI)
Program.
We reviewed the criteria for safety system failures in Volume II of the PI Report. We provided the licensee a copy of the most recent publically available PI Report as well as reviewed the safety system failure data for plant Hatch Units 1 and 2 in that report.
We also clarified the role of Immediate Notifications in classifying events as fety system failures.
