Review of the Georgia and South Carolina State and Local Radiological Emrgency Plans and Preparedness for the Vogtle Electric Generatiry Plant In accordance with 44 CFR 350, the Federal Emrgency Managemnt Agency (FDtA) Region IV staff has conpleted an evaluation of the Georgia and South Carolina State and local radiological emergency plans and preparedness for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant. E is evaluation has been acomtplished in accordance with the provisions of Section 350.11.
Pursuant to Section 350.12, FD1A intends to make a findity and determination with respect to the status.of plans and preparedness in the vicinity of the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant oy April 30, 1987.
'Ihe followirn attachments are for your review and discussion with menbers of your organization who are directly involved in the Regional Assistance Conmittee (BAC) activity supporting FEMA Region IV.
The attachments related to the FDiA Region IV evaluation of the Georgia and South Carolina State and local radiological emergency plans and preparedness are the Regional Director's Evaluation; the final report on the April 30-May 1,1986, exercise; and the letters of formal submission fran the State of Georgia dated Septenber 24, 1986, and from the State of South Carolina dated September 26, 1986. Due to excessive voltrne, the actual plans and other relevant materials are not attached. 'Ihey are available for your review in Room 506 of the Federal Center Plaza, 500 C Street, S. W.

The requirements of 44 CFR 350 have been met, and identified inadequacies have been corrected.
State and local plans, proce-dures, and preparedness are complete and are adequate to provide l
a reasonable assurance that the public health and safety can be l
protected in the event of a radiological emergency at Plant i
Vogtle.
Please provide Governor Harris and Governor Riley the results of your review when completed.
