SUMMARY
OF OPERATIONS May, 1989
' he Cycle 6 - 7 refueling outage continued into the month of May. Power operation began at 0443 on May 21.- The generator was taken off line at 1603 on May 21 to perform the turbine overspeed trip test. The unit returned to power operation at 1743 on May 21.
At 1019 on May 22, the reactor tripped due to a low-low level in the 2A-steam generator. The 2A steam generator feed pump tripped when'a loosely connected speed pickup / thrust bearing wear cable was bumped. We unit returned to power operation at 2334 on May 22.
At 0906 on May 27, the reactor tripped due to a turbine-generator trip.
The generator trippd due to a loss of excitation resulting from the failure of #9 bearing. The unit returned to power operation at 2021 on-May 31.
The following major safety-related maintenance was performed in the month.
of May:
1.
The program for performing physical and calibration inspections of the HFA relays continued.
2.
The program for refurbishing the actuators on motor-operated valves ccntinued.
3.
The 2A charging pump seal was replaced.
4.
The turbine driven auxiliary feedwater pump was rebuilt.
