SUBJECT:
TMI-1 STATUS REPORT FOR THE PERIOD April 25 - May 2,1986 Enclosed is the TMI-1 weekly status report from the NRC Resident' Office at TMI-1.for the subject period. Following the repair of a steam line drain leak, the plant was returned to full power.
The NRC staff followed the power in-crease and continued to monitor routine plant operations.
TMI-1 status reports are intended to provide NRC management and the public with z
- highlights from an NRC regulatory perspective of TMI-1 activities for the pre-vious week. Subsequent inspection reports will address many of these topics in more detail.

F ENCLOSURE TMI-1 STATUS REPORT FOR THE PERIOD April 25 - May 2,1986 1.
Plant Status As of 8:00 a.m. on May 2,1986, TMI-1 was operating at 100 percent power and at normal reactor coolant temperature and pressure.

Facility Operations Summary
'At the. start of the report period, the plant was being maintained at 3-5 percent with the main turbine isolated in order to make a repair to a

steam line drain.. Following the completion of the repair at approximately
~
10:00 a.m. on April 25, a power escalation began. Full power was achieved at 9:50 p.m.. on April 26. The plant was maintained at full power during the remainder of the report period.

Items of Special Interest Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Meeting On May 1 and 2,1986, a meeting with licensee representatives was held on site by a NRR fire protection engineer from the NRC Office of Nuclear

Reactor Regulation (NRR) and a Region I fire protection inspector to discuss matters associated with the 10 CFR 50 Appendix R fire protection safety evaluation report.

NRC Staff Status During the Period During this report period, the NRC staff consisted of the senior resident
' inspector and three resident inspectors and was supplemented by a regional inspector while the resident inspectors were attending a Region I Resident Inspector Ccunterpart Meeting in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
