Your letter of May 18, 1989 suggesting methods for converting t'1e Seabrook facility and producing " pollution free power" has been referre6 to me for response.
The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission is strictly involved in regulating power. produced by atomic fission -- nuclear power. Congress has not given us authority to evaluate alternative energy sources. Other Federal j
agencies may have this authority. Forinstance,theDepartmentofEnergy(DOE) is responsible for research programs associated with~ alternative energy sources.
I suggest that you may want. to contact the DOE for additional information.
