Docket No. 50-352 Attachment to Monthly 3892109020 Op:rcting Report for March 1989 Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 March 1 through March 31, 1989 ,

I. Narrative Summary of Operating Experiences Limerick Unit 1 began March with the reactor vessel defueled and in Operational Condition * (* indicates the condition under which irradiated fuel may be handled) during its second refueling cycle. On March 18, Unit 1 entered Operational Condition 5 and

  • when core reloading activities commenced.

Core reloading was completed on March 28 and core verification was completed on March 30. Unit 1 ended the month in Operational Condition 5 with a reactor coolant temperature of 89 degrees F and a reactor cavity level of 497".

Operational events that occurred during the month of March included:

On March 27, the D12 and D14 Diesel Generators were declared inoperable following discovery that 0-listed cables were not properly separated from non-Q cables.

The circuits containing these cables were deenergized and a supervisory block applied to address the separation problem. Once those circuits were deenergized, the D12 and D14 diesels were declared operable. Maintenance request forms were initiated to correct the cable sleeving problems.

On March 29, the Refuel Floor HVAC received a 'B' channel low differential pressure isolation signal. The Standby Gas Treatment System started and normal HVAC shutdown per design. The degradation in refuel floor differential pressure appears to have been caused by decreasing outside air temperatures. At the time of the isolation, an operator was attempting to apply steam to 3 the HVAC heating coils following the receipt of a low differential pressure alarm. Following application of steam to the heating coils, the isolation was reset and normal ventilation returned to service.

II. Challenges to Main Steam Safety Relief Valves Due to the refueling condition, there were no challenges to the Main Steam Relief valves during the month of March.
