Dear' Sir:
F L-Inaccordancelwithrecommendationsmade'by-Deanbhaneyofyour:
f office during his inspection of'our-. facility on March.2, 1989.
.The Radiation ~ Safety Committee' met'on March 22,.1989 and approved
- cutting? power.to the'L-77 research reactor.- This was done to prevent; accidental or inadvertent. manipulation of reactor mechanisms.--This conclusion was reached on'the morning of March-
~22.
The.' power.was cut that afternoon by personnel from the electrical shop of'our Physical Facilities Department under my direct supervision.
There have been no other changes to the reactor or the
' surrounding structure.
There have'been no. violations of security at thf reactor facility. 'TLD monitors left in and' adjacent to the reactor facility'have recorded no more than 23 mrems in a l period of one year.
I_have found no evidence of contamination in the reactor during routine surveys of the facility.
Sincerely,
/
