.URF0:RDS Docket No. WM-60 f-U.S. Department of Energy ATTN:
James R. Anderson, Project Manager Uranium Mill Tailings Project Office Albuquerque Operations Office P. O. Box 5400 Albuquerque,- New Mexico 87115 Gentlemen:
We have. reviewed your letter of July 10, 1987, in which you offered an explanation of Addendum 01 to the RFP for Riverton Remedial Action Work.
Addendum 01 would provide that "Each payment application should be accompanied by a signed certificate of acceptance by NRC stating that the j
materials in question were disposed of pursuant to NRC license amendment, approved reclamation plan, and in accordance with NRC Regulation 10 CFR 40 requirements."
The NRC will ensure compliance with regulatory and license requirements through our regular licensing, inspection, and enforcement programs.
We deem it inappropriate for NRC to be involved in the contractual relationship between your Remedial Action Contractor and the subcontractor chosen to dispose of Riverton wastes.
Please delete this provision from your contract documents.
Sincerely,
/s/
R. Dale Smith, Director Uranium Recovery Field Office Region IV l
