During my review of.the subject 1 transcript,;I noticed some significant omissions of my words during the discussion of the scope'of the independent verification ~ program. 'For the record, enclosed is a marked-up page 28 of the-transcript which more clearly states what was said at the July 8,-1987 meeting.
Very truly yours.

3-MR. WHITE:' I don't know how that fits in with k)OurcgK l e t te r, Mr. Keppler, now.

MR. KEPPLER:
I wouldn't accept the remarks 6
that was just made exactly, because I think it is not our
- 7 intent to dwell on areas that you have spent time on.
8 MR. EBNETER:
.You have done calculations in-9 civil areas.
' The team will have to review that 10 calculation to the extent to verify the validity of it
~
11 and the assumptions used in making that and the accuracy-12 of the final calculation.
They may not have to redo the 13 calc, but they have to lock at the calc and verify 'it.
14 MR. WHITE:
I just want to make sure that --
from your letter 15 can I make a try at this to sayAthat the verification 16
. effort is going to focus on areas not directly covered by 17 our other eff orts and should minimize redoing work 18 already perf ormed by TVA.
your 19 I think that was that intent, and I just want 20 to make sure that hasn't changed from what you said.

M R. EBNETER:
We will have to do what we i
j 22 have to do to verify the design.
Those comments were f or 23 your benefit to minimize the impact on your staff.
It's i
24 nothing to do with my staff.
They will do whatever they 25 have to do to do the verification.
