SUBJECT:
Exercise Report of the June 11, 1986, Exercise of the Offsite Radiological Emergency Response Plans for the Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station Attached is a copy of the exercise report of the June 11,1986, joint exercise of the offsite radiological emergency response plans (RERP) for the Yankee Rowe Nuclear Pcwer Station (NPS). This was a full participa-tion exercise for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Vermont and local jurisdictions. The report dated August 18, 1987, was prepared by Region I of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
- There were four deficiencies identified during the exercise. Areas requiring corrective action (ARCA) were also identified. Remedial drills were held on August 15-16, 1986, and a copy of the corrective action report dated August 18, 1987, is attached. As noted in the report, the deficiencies identified at the Vermont EOC and at the Massachusetts Area IV ECC required revisions to plans arxl procedures. Based on the results of the remedial drills, the revised plans and procedures and the schedules of corrective actions submitted by Vermont and Massachusetts for the ARCAs, FEMA considers that offsite radiological emergency preparedness is adequate'to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public living in tM vicinity of the site in the event of a radiological energency.
