Gentlemen:

By letter GN-1349 dated February .24, 1987, Georgia: Power Company (GPC) provided a report describing the design, operation, and testing status of' the DMIMS. In 'that report GPC committed to provide. a supplemental report (final baseline signature report) of the necessary data collected at the 1001. power level. The enclosed Westinghouse report is submitted in accordance with that commitment. The. report contains the following information:

1. documentation of system sensitivity in accordance with Regulatory Guide 1.133,
2. bases for recommended system settings, 3.- simulated loose parts impact data and other background information to allow GPC personnel to evaluate suspected impacts, and
4. illustration and tabulation of accelerometer signals at the 1001.

power level for verification of the signal train integrity and .

detection of signal degradation.  !

Letter GN-1349 provided discussions of procedures which provide instructions to plant personnel for operation of the DMIMS. The following procedure will be used in addition to the ones already described:

M Procedure 54084-C, "DMIMS Data Analysis and Comparison", provides instructions for engineering response to an alarm generated by the DMIMS. This procedure also provides instructions for audio monitoring every 7 days as a backup to daily surveillance and i background noise comparison every 92 days as recommended in f Opl Regulatory Guide 1.133.
