Docket Numbers 50-275-OLA and 50-323-OLA Due to my work schedule, I could not be present at the June 15 hearing concerning waste storage at Diablo Canyon.

I feel strongly that high density storage of radioactive wastes should not be allowed.

When the Diablo plant was originally conceived, storage of wastes on site was not planned.

Then when the storage pools were designed, storing wastes in this density was not planned.

Putting the radioactive waste containers so close together is totally unsafe.

The plant is vulnerable to earthquakes, as you know, and to other natural disasters like tsunamis (tidal waves).

Just this past winter we had tsunami warnings from the National Weather Service.

They're not exactly an alarmist group, are they?

We live about ten miles from the plant and have a seven month old daughter.

I don't believe we should be subjected to the fear of this unsafe storage method causing a serious problem.

We have a

solar energy system on our house.

If everyone did, we could cut energy consumption by 15-50%.

l Just within the past few weeks we heard on the news that Iran was l

threatening to bomb one of our nuclear plants.

With nuclear wastes stored so densely here, would be especially vulnerable.

we Please consider this when making your decision.

It is your responsibility to make.these plants safe.

Please don't conclude it's worth the risk.

It's not!
