a RESOLUTION REREACKING THE SPENT FUEL POOLS AT THE DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
- WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company has applied to the Nuclear Regu-latory Commission for permission to increase the amount of spent nuclear fuel that can be stored in the spent fuel pool facility at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant; and
- WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company must keep all spent fuel on-site until a federal repository is in place, sometime in the next 15 to 20 years; and
- WHEREAS, the proposed reracking of the spend fuel pool to accommodate ad-ditional fuel assemblies is consistent with similar activities by numerous other utilities; and
- WHEREAS, reracking will not require enlarging or adding new storage pools; and
- WHEREAS, Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant is an outstanding value to P G
& E customers and has an exceptional safety and performance record.
NOW, THEREFORE; the Santa Maria Valley Developers, Inc. do hereby proclaim support for Pacific Gas and Electric Company to increase spent fuel storage capacity in order to continue the safe operation of its Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.
