Dear Sirs:
I live in the shadow of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant near San Luis Obispo, California.
Unlike the Eastern U.S. perception of Californians, I am not a long-haired hipple radical, nor am I a little old lady in tennis shoes.
I am a middle of the road, fiscally conservative, tax-paying citizen who is incensed at having a nuclear time bomb p1 aced in his back yard by his own government.
You see, we.have an active earthquake fault within shouting distance of Diablo l
j Canyon.
And now the government is considering allowing the I
storage of five times the amount of spent fuel that the 1
pl an t was desi gned to hold.
This is crazy!!!
This sounds like a Saturday Night Live routine!
How could this ever be ser i ou sl y considered?
l I re al i ze the pressure placed on your office from governmental higher-ups, and financial pressure from businesses like PG&E.
But you folks have the opportunity to do the ethical thing at this juncture in time.
Please do it before it is too late.
How are you going to look at yourselves in the mirror after an accident
(" incident" in your parlance) that costs hundreds or thousands of lives l
knowing that you had the opportunity to stop it, and you l
blew It?
l Hoping for some rational thought, I am 4
