Unfortunately I shall be unable to attend the June 15th l
l hearing conducted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission i
concerning PG&E's plan to store radioactive wastes produced by the Diablo Canyon nuclear p1 ant on the plant site.
I believe that it is ludicrous to quintuple the-amount of spent fuel rods to be stored, when the ponds were designed to hold the originally planned amount.
The spent rods will be danger ou s l y close together for a storage facility next to an active eartnquake fault.
The 51ightest tremor could cause the waste stored in unsecured racks to crash into each other, I
triggering a serious nuclear accident.
This is an i
unacceptable risk!
