Please approve'the PGandE application to increase the spent fuel storage capacity of the spent fuel pools at the Diablo Nuclear Power l

Plant near San Luis Obispo.

The originally installed racks at the plant are adequate.for five to seven years.

However the Department of Energy will not have a permanent repository or reprocessing plant for 15 to 20 years.

If this very reliable plant is to stay in operation during that time, the storage capacity must be increased.

California needs this very reliable clean source of energy now and in the future.

The additional storage will not significantly increase the level of radioactivity in the spent fuel pools.
