l Because I cannot be at the hearings in Avila Beach today to speak my piece, I am instead writing this letter.

I moved to Los Osos nearly three years ago primarily for the sake of my children; it is for them and for all children now living sud those to come that I plead with you now: do not allow thie increased aucunt of nuclear waste to be stored at Diablo Canyon.

I'm not a acientist, just a teacher, mother, citizen concerned about our planet.

l As human beings we are subject to so many dangers beyond our control. But with l a modicum of caution and common sense there are some dangers we can avoid, and this is one of them. Have we actually reached the point where our instinct to survive has been outstripped by our greed for profit and creature comfort?

I cannot bring myself to believe that you een sitting up there on the panel care less for the health and safety of your children and your children's children than we who beg you not to inflict this upon us.

There's little I can add to the eloquent statements I heard yesterday. But the main source of my resentment is thist more and more I find myself hoping about my kids - don't let them have any children of their own. I cannot help shuddering to think of leaving grandchildren within 20 miles of an un-safe nuclear power plant (I guess that expression is redundant).
