Office of the Secretary U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Docketing and Service Division Washington, D.C. 20555 My wife and I attended the public hearings held at Avila Beach on June 15th and, although we did not speak before the group, we do wish to make our feelings known to you.
We are and have been residents of San Luis Obispa for 23 years and one of our daughters and her child still live here.
We are very much disturbed by PG&E's plan to store the large amounts radioactive waste at their plant.
We are scared!
We nave loved living here but now we are threatened by the very real possibility that all our lives could be snuffed out should an earthquake occur at the right (or wrong) place.
This fear is not one that goes away with the coming of dawn, as many nighttime fears do.
It is present all the time.
I realize that the storage of nuclear waste is dangerous, even with the very I
best of conditions.
Please do not magnify I
this danger by storing five times the
" safe" amount of waste in a place that was never designed nor intended for that purpose.
Very sincerel pd '
