On May 22, 1987, GPU Nuclear submitted Revision 4 to the Heavy Load Handling Inside Containment and Over Fuel Pool "A" Safety Evaluation Report (SER) via GPU Nuclear letter 4410-87-L-0081. The purpose of the revision was to demonstrate that a load drop in the area west of the Fuel Transfer Canal and north of the "A" Once Through Steam Generator centerline (i.e., " exclusion" area) would be highly unlikely based on the imposition of additional lift prerequisites and that unlimited movement of heavy loads over the " exclusion" area was warranted. However, based on discussions with the TMICPD staff, GPU Nuclear has reconsidered this issue and is withdrawing the request for ;/oul review and approval of the SER. Future activities which require heavy load handling over the " exclusion" area will be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.
