REVIEW 0F DRAFT NCRP REPORT The referenced draft report has been reviewed by S. Block and the following comments are submitted.
L (1) Page 3, lines 5-7 The statement that "many (medically) exposed.
individuals are suffering from some form of-illness,_
and they are-generally older than the population at large".may be inconsistent with Table 3.8 which-(
shows that as many people under 45 years-of age-l.
receive medical ~ exposure ~as those over 45.
(2) Page 13, lines 18-20 Based on the description of the quality. assurance program described on page 59, credibility of X-ray studies becomes questionable with respect to assessment of doses.
Perhaps some reference
.should be made with respect to the dosimetry that was performed from'the dosimetric package that was used and the' quality of performance of 1
the laboratories estimating the doses.
-1 (3) Page 48 Table 3.18 In-order to show the effectiveness of X-ray filters and fast film screens in 1973 vs 1981 data, among other tabulated data, typical X-ray energies or_ ranges of energies should be provided for each type examination for each selected year.
(4) Page 59, line 20 Cohen'referenceof(1985),shows'(1975).in reference listing.
