This is in reference to the document you sent to the Uranium Recovery Field Office (URFO) dated February 5,1987, titled " Technical Review of the Tuba City Final Remedial Action Plan (RAP)." The concerns you addressed were noted by our reviewers and they presented similar comments to DOE when compatible.
The main concerns that you noted as well as URF0 were:
Drainge channel design, specifically energy dissipation, ditch outlets, riprap size with regard to turbulence and velocity.
Top slope grade, specifically runoff time.
Radon barrier design, especially slope and durability aspects.
Armoring material for erosion protection.
I Many of the com:nents directed to DOE on design aspects have been I
addressed with some still outstanding.
All comments will be addressed by j
the DOE to substantiate a good Tuba City design with regard to EPA j
criteria.
