Dear Administrative Judges:

.in a previous letter dated May 26, 1987, Staff Counsel transmitted to the Board a May 7, 1987 memorandum from Christopher Grimes , Director, Comanche Pcak Project division to Lawrence Chandler, in which the Staff provided an initial response to a question raised by Judge Bloch regarding the existence of undisclosed Staff trend reports or analyses other than those identified in O!A Report 86-10. The May 7,1987 memorandum indicated that additional Staff personnel would be contacted to determine if they were aware of unreleased ctraft trend reports. These individuals have subsequently been contacted by the Staff. As reflected in the attached memorandum of

, August 11, 1987 from Mr. Grimes to Mr. Chandler, no documents responsive to the Board's inquiry have been identified other than those originally identified in the Staff's May 7, 1987 memorandum. We are informed that DIA's efforts relevant to this matter are not yet completed.

Sincerely, Ce ry -. Mizuno Counsel to NRC Staff

SUBJECT:

LICENSING BOARD INQUIRY ON DRAFT STAFF REPORTS ABOUT 4 COMANCHE PEAK QA/QC My May 7, 1987 memorandum forwarded the results of our survey of the staff concerning awareness of any undisclosed draft trend reports or draft reports written by the staff regarding the adeouacy of Comanche Peak's QA/QC program.

In that memorandum, I indicated there were some additional individuals that we planned to contact.. We have sir!ce cantacted those individuals and no documents, other than those specified in the May 7, 1987 memorandem, were identified.

It was brought to our attention by one of the individuals surveyed that past FOIA requests resulted in the accumulation of a number of draft documents prepared in support of the Comanche Peak Review Team effort. One group of these documents is categorized as QA/QC and consiris of 19 boxes of material.

These documents were previously released in accordance with FOIA procedures, except for that material appropriately exempted.  ;
