Dear Sir:
In response to your letter of July 23, 1987, we wish to state our intention to implement a trendi'g program per your requirement for reactor trip breaker n
parameters at McGuire and Catawba Stations.
This program will consist of an annual trending analysis of data recorded during regular periodic maintenance for trip force, undervoltage trip attachment dropout voltage and breaker response time. An evaluation will be performed by Duke
}
Power's Design Engineering Electrical Division personnel, who will look for possible trends which might predict degradation of the breaker.
At McGuire, we are in the midst of replacing the reactor trip breakers.
For each new breaker installed, we will initiate the program at the first maintenance interval. At Catawba, we will initiate the program at the next maintenance interval.
