SUMMARY
OF. UNIT-1-OPERATING EXPERIENCE l
[
JULY 1987 7
7/1 Unit 1. began this reporting period at full reactor power (825 MWe)
-i 7/10 At 2035, the Unit began reducing power to replace the~
lower guide bearing on 11 Circulating Water Pump.
7/11 At 2015, repairs were complete and the Unit was returned to full reactor power.
7/14 At 1345, the Unit was tripped because of an inadvertent boration.
A boric acid pump,. started in-response to an isolated Feedwater Heater _( a cold water addition) did not secure as expected.
7/15 At.0619, the Reactor was critical, and at 1022 the Unit was paralleled.
7/23 At 1525 the Unit tripped because of a loss of both High
' Voltage (500kv) Transmission Lines.
Once a line was 4
restored, a startup was attempted.
However, 11A RCP failed to start because of a failed "B" phase winding.
7/31 The Unit was shutdown at the end of this reporting period to replace 11A RCP motor.

l
SUMMARY
OF UNIT 2 OPERATING EXPERIENCES JULY 1987 7/1 The Unit was shutdown at the beginning of this reporting
)
period.
At 1710, the Reactor was critical.
j i
7/3 At 1330, the Unit was paralleled but picked up too much load.
Becauce'of the excessive cooldown, the Reactor tripped.
The load limiter was subsequently adjusted.
At 1655, the Reactor was critical and at 2008, the breaker i
was shut.
At 2310, the Unit was at 30% reactor power and startup testing at various power levels was begun.
7/5 At 1205, the Unit had reached 95% reactor power, but at 1915, a power. reduction was begun because of high turbine vibration.
7/6 At 0255, reactor power was held at 75% to limit turbine vibration on the exciter bearing to 9 mils.
7/7 At 1630, because turbine vibration had increased, reactor power was decreased to 60% to limit vibration.
7/8 At 1340, a power reduction was begun so a turbine balance shot could be installed.
The Unit was removed from the grid at 1015.
7/9 At 0208, the Unit was paralleled.
At 0330, the Unit was held at 30% for water chemistry.
At 0850 the chemistry hold was released, and a power increase was begun.
At 2030, the Unit was held at 97% to complete physics testing.
7/14 At 0140, all physics testing had been completed, and the Unit was at full reactor power (825 MWe).
7/17 At 0545, a power reduction was begun because RCS leakage exceeded 10 GPM.
At 1048, the Unit was removed from the grid.
The RCS leakage was found to be from two Regenerative Heat Exchanger drain valves.
7/19 At 0700 the Reactor was critical, and at 1539 the Unit was paralleled.
7/20 At 0610, the Unit was at full reactor power (825 MWe).
7/23 At 1525, the Unit tripped because of a loss of both transmission lines.
7/24 At 0650 the Unit was critical, and at 0855 the Unit was paralleled, but was held at 30% for a water chemistry control.
At 1100 the chemistry hold was released, and at 2000 the Unit was at full reactor power (825 MWe).
7/31 The Unit ended this reporting period at full reactor power (825MWe).
