Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 0ocket No. 50-289 Schedule for Anticipated Transient Without SCRAM (ATWS) Modifications By letter dated February 18, 1987, GPUN informed the NRC that a Safety Evaluation Report on the B&W Owners Group technical approach for compliance with the ATWS modification requirements was needed by June 1,1987 if the Cycle 8 refueling outage schedule for completion was to be met. As notified by the NRC TMI-1 Project Manager, a NRC response to the B&W Owners Group submittal, dated October 8,1985, will not be received in the near future.
We are considering this notification by the Project Manager as a response to our request for a schedule change and, therefore, our schedule for completion of the modification is now the Cycle 9 refueling outage.
4 If an SER is not issued by January 1,1989, we will be unable to complete the modifications during the Cycle 9 refueling outage.
This letter may be considered a request for schedule change to Cycle 10 refueling outage should the August 1988 SER issuance not occur.
