.,i A copy of our. report, " Safety Evaluation Report on the West Volley Demonstration Project - Cement Solidification System," (SER) is enclosed. *ihis report presents-our evaluation of information contained in the West Valley Demonstration Project's (WVDP) Safety Analysis Report, Volume IV, Revision 1 on the Cement Solidifica-tion System (CSS), as well as.other information supplied by the WVDP. We have

-l concluded that the operation of the CSS will not endanger the public's health and safety.

Other than a short section on instrumentation and control, issues related to the cement waste product, as opposed to CSS' operation, are not addressed in this SER.

'As you know, the NRC's Division of. Low-Level Waste Management and Decommissioning L

is'considering the WVDP formulation of the cement product, and some further con-sideration of the control parameters affecting. product quality may be necessary as part of their review.
