Ebasco presented Cygna with an overview of the conduit support reverification program.

reverification processes were provided and are provided as Attachments 1 through 5 to this communications report.

Attachment I shows the general flowchart for the entire program, including the appropriate design documents. The purpose of the program is:

(1) to reverify the original S-0910 package or to modify.it as required, using various design criteria (SAG.CP10, 21, 17, 29, and 20) and (2) to i

assure that the installed conduit systems are within the l

bounds of the verified S-0910 package, using the ISO verification guidelines SAG.CP25. One exception was noted: the cable spread room frame was design verified on a case-by-case basis, using as-built information instead of the original S-0910 design drawings. shows the areas included in the design verification of the original S-0910 package. These areas include span verification, support design verification, and junctiot. box verification. A thermal study was done to set generic criteria for anchor bolts.

which must be met in the installed system configurations or must be considered on a case-by-case basis, l goes into further detail on' the span l

verification process. Except for CA-type s'upports in large diameter LA-spans, all other supports and spans are considered to be flexible. Design accelerations (not zero-period accelerations (ZPA)) are used in the verification.

Ebasco explained that, early on in the design verification process, it was determined that, because of the lack of dynamic amplification factors (DAF) and other deficiencies in the Gibbs & Hill designs, the generic supports could not be qualified for the original design accelerations.

It was therefore necessary to reduce the design' accelerations by choosing a target acceleration and setting a minimum support frequency. As shown in, a prewalkdown to identify supports having frequencies below the minimum was to be performed but was later discontinued because of the 100% as-built program.
