NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE April 1987 1
The La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor was permanently shut down on April 30, 1987.
At the onset of the April 1987 reporting period, the reactor was operating at 99% Rated Thermal Power (50 MWe-net). At 1415 on April 6, the 1A Forced
. Circulation Pump tripped due to a seal injection system perturbation. Power was reduced to'approximately 27%.
The 1A recirculation. loop was placed back in service at 1900 on April 6.
Power was escalated until April 9, when 98-99%
^{
power (49 MWe-net) was achieved.
On April 20, reactor power was reduced to 52% to allow cleaning of.
condenser water boxes. Upon completion of the job, power was re-escalated. On
)
April 23, 97-98% power (48 MWe-net) was achieved.
]
1 At 0000 on April 30, the final shutdown of the La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor was initiated.
'At 0905, the turbine generator was' disconnected from the Dairyland Power Cooperative grid. All control rods were fully inserted at 0910 l
on April 30.
During the month'of April, maintenance was performed on the 1B Shutdown Condenser Steam. Inlet Valve, the IB High Pressure Service Water Pump pressure switch and the High Pressure Service Water line. A Type B leakage test was performed'on the personnel airlock. No leakage was measured.
