This is in response to your July 30, 1987 letter (your reference #696-1094), j in which you requested permission to modify your annual review methodology with respect to your contractor laboratory.

We have determined that based on current circumstances, your request is reasonable and warranted, and that the granting of your request will not adversely affect the common defense and security nor the public health and safety, and is otherwise in the public interest. Accordingly, we are hereby j adding new License Condition 4.6 to Amendment SG-1 of your License No. SNM-696, 1 effective immediately. Condition 4.6 reads as follows:

i l 4.6 In satisfying the requirement of 10 CFR 70.57(b)(3) and the

! connitment contained in Section 4.1.4 of the Plan ~ identified in Condition 2.1, the licensee may, in lieu of an on-site review, utilfre telephone discussions with appropriate contractor personnel and inspection of copies of relevant documents requested by the licensee and provided by the contractor laboratory.

It should be noted that the above condition may be rescinded at some future l date depending upon such factors as increased sample load from GA to the con-tractor laboratory, excessive inventory differences or shipper-receiver diffe-rences, and contractor performance as reported by 7ther licensee reviews, etc. l We have determined that your 696-1094 letter, dated July 30, 1987, contains informationofthetypespecifiedin10CFR2.790(d).
