50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - INTERIM ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA FOR ALTERNATE ANALYZED PIPING AND SUPPORTS
Reference:
Letter from me to B. Youngblood dated November 10, 1986, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant - Interim Acceptance Criteria for Alternately Analyzed Piping and Supports" In the reference, SQN interim acceptance criteria for alternate analyzed piping and supports were modified to allow evaluation of piping secondary stresses using an allowable of 1.5 times equation (10) limits. As discussed with John Fair on July 23, 1987, in TVA's Knoxville office, this interim criteria was not utilized by TVA and is determined to be no longer needed. At Mr. Fair's request, piping criteria are herein modified to reflect this change and will read as follows:
Pipinr, Criteria 1 A.
Secondary stresses due to Operational Basis Earthquake (OBE) seismic anchor movements (SAM) plus thermal anchor movements (TAM) will be evaluated to long-term allowable limits for piping with a maximum 0
operating temperature of 200 F or less.
B.
Secondary stresses due to OBE SAM, plus TAM, plus thermal (TH) will be evaluated to long-term allowable limits for piping with a maximum 0
operating temperature exceeding 200 F.
If any questions exist, please telephone M. R. Harding at (615) 870-6422.
Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY 8708240424 B70817 PDR ADOCK 05000327 P
