Dear Mr. Murley:

Reference (a) provided the request to amend Technical Specifications i

3.8.1.1 and 4.8.1.1.2 to clarify how the gradual loading of.the diesel engine is applied to minimize the mechanical stress and wear on the diesel generator.

This letter provides a correction to the wording included in Attachments B and C to reference (a).

I Attachments B and C state, in part:

"...The proposed change clarifies that all surveillance tests, with

.j the exception of the one performed once per 184 days may be preceded j

by warmup procedures and may also include gradual loading as i

recommended by the manufacturer."

j To be consistent-with the' revised footnote to Technical Specification 1

page 3/4 8-3 provided in reference (a), the above wording should be changed to the following:
