Washington, D.C. 20555 Re: NRC Docket 50-288, Facility License R-112 This is to advise you that effective September 1, 1987, we have' appointed Professor Lawrence Ruby to be Director of the Reed Reactor Facility. Mr. J. Michael Pollock, who has been Acting Director of the Facility, will continue in the position of Associate Director.
Professor Ruby has been associated with the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, since 1959 as a faculty member. He was the first manager of the Berkeley TRIGA Mark III Reactor, and for many years held a Senior Reactor Operator's License at that facility. He has many publications in the field of reactor physics and in TRIGA reactor operations.
Mr. Pollock's initial experience with the Reed Reactor was obtained as an undergraduate student. Last year, he returned to the facility in the capacity of Acting Director, and subsequently, he successfully qualified for a Senior Reactor Operator's License.
