NRC STAFF VOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME WITHIN WHICH TO FILE PROPOSED FINDINGS OF FACT _

The MRC Staff seeks an extension of time until September 11, 1987, 1

to file its proposed findings of fact herein.

According to the schedule set by this Board for the filing of proposed findings of fact, the NRC Staff's submission is currently due on August 27, 1987.

See Hearing I

Tr. 8944-45.

The Staff indicated at the time the findings schedule was set on June 18,1987, that without a proposed page limitation on the filings the l

Staff anticipated that it would probably need additional time to file its proposed findings.

Tr. 6939.

The Board in response thereto indicated that it would entertain a Staff motion for an extension of time for filing of the Staff's proposed findings of fact, if the other parties' findings were lengthy.

See Tr'.

8944.

On August 17, 1987, interveners served 625 l

pages of proposed findings of fact.

LILCO had previously filed 191 pages I

of proposed findings and a 20 page brief discussing Contention EX 19.

I Given the volume of the other parties' filings, the Staff respectfully j

l requests an extension of the due date for its proposed findings until September 11, 1987.

The Staff has contacted counsel for LILCO and the g903Oo47870820 4-I ADDCX 05000322 hhb l g

! I interveners.

LILCO indicated that it would object to such an extension.

The Interveners state that they take no position and believe it is c matter for the Board to decide in its discretion.

The Staff respectfully requests an expedited decli on on this matter.

t Respectfully submitted, 1
