)
Protection Program conducted at Point Beach Nuclear Plant (PBNP)
.i during the period of February 23 through June _26, 1987.
During-the' inspection, the quality assurance program for fire protection was reviewed for compliance to previous WE commitments.
The inspector was uncertain about compliance of the program to these commitments, and as such, an open item-(266/87007-05; 301/87007-05) was initiated to cause additional reviews within the Region 1
(Reference Section 3.b. of subject inspection report).
.i Since the inspection, we have' initiated our own internal review of the Nuclear Power Department _ (NPD) ' Quality Assurance Policy Manual and Section 1.8 of the PBNP Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
This review has verified conformance of the FSAR to previous fire protection quality assurance. program commitments _as approved by the NRC.
However, based upon this review, we also concluded that some clarification in the NPD QA Policy Manual.was necessary.
t Revisions have since been made.to the policy manual to more clearly describe the quality assurance. program for fire protec-tion.
We believe these actions will resolve the open item.
