Subject:
Limetick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 Changes to National Pollutant Discharge ElimineSon System Permit
Dear Sir / Madam:
This letter is being submitted in accordance with the Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2, Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) Section 3.2, which stipulates that the NRC shall b6 notified within 30 days following the date of approval of a change to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
By letter dated July 30,1998, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA
)
DEP) authorized the discharge of wastewater generated during dredging operations of the wet wells at the Schuylkill River intake Structure at Limerick Generating Station. The wastewater will be discharged to the Schuylkill River through stormwater Outfall 012. This effluent discharge is only permitted on a temporary basis, and therefore, the monitoring conditions established for this work do not constitute a permanent revision to LGS NPDES Permit No. PA0051926. The NRC was previously notified of our request to discharge wastewater to Outfall 012 by letter dated July 23,1998.
Accordingly, this letter provides the appropriate notification regarding the authorization to i
conduct the temporary discharge and is being submitted within 30 days of the permitting l
agency's approvalin accordance with the requirements of the LGS EPP. A copy of the PA DEP letter authorizing the temporary discharge is attached.
If you have any questions or require additionalinformation, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Ve truly yours,
/
