U.S. NUCLEAR REGUI.ATORY COMMISSION MONITORING VISIT 98-02
Dear Ms. Mazurowski:
On June 29 - July 2,1698, Todd Jackson of this office conducted a rou'ine monitoring visit at the Department of Ey. gy's (DOE) West Valley Demonstration Project to review activities of West Valley Nuclear services Company, Inc. (WVNS), the DOE contractor. The purpose of the monitoring visit was to review the status of the contractor's program for the operation of the vitrification facility and the site relative to its radiological impact on public hec!th and safety. The results of this monitoring visit were discussed with you and your staff, and with WVNS, on July 2,1998. Details of this review are provided in the enclosed report.
As a result of this review, the monitor determined that the contractor has established and maintained controls, processes, and programs adequate to protect public health and safety, if you have any quer.tions about this report, please contact me at (610)337-5094.
