Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant - Units 1 and 2 Containment Vent and Purging Technical Specification Change By letter of May 4,1987 Alabama Power Company proposed Technical Specification changes to resolve all current open issues of the NRC regarding Farley Nuclear Plant's use of a continuous minipurge system. On November 16, 1987 the NRC issued revised Technical Specification pages in i
accordance with Alabama Power Company's request. These revised pages are

acceptable to Alabama Power Company; however, in the accompanying SER, reference is made to the performance of the quarterly surveillance testing on a staggered test basis. The use of a staggered test basis was not requested in the May 4,1987 submittal and is not desired or necessary as a scheduling constraint. Also, it is our understanding that use of staggered testing was not intended by the NRC to be a requirement f.r the quarterly Surveillance.
It is therefore requested that these words be removed from the SER by December 31, 1987 to preclude potential misunderstanding between the wording in the Technical Specifications and the SER. Alabama Power l
Company considers the wording of the Technical Specifications to be governing in not requiring staggered testing.
