Supplemental Containment System PRA Status Shoreham Nuclear Power Station - Unit 1 Docket No. 50-322-Gentlemen:
In response to your summary of the July 21, 1987 meeting conce{ ping the design of the Supplemental Containment System (SCS)
, LILCO forwarded additional information gpncerning the SCS in an August 28, 1987 submittal to the Staff In that submittal, LILCO indicated that it would respond to the specific questions highlighted in the meeting summary upon completion of the on-going PRA analysis.
The completion of the PRA analysis was anticipated by October 1987, however, as a result of other analyses performed in support of the PRA, modifications are required.
LILCO currently anticipates completion of the PRA by February 1988.
Specifically, as discussed in the meeting and subsequent sub-mittals, LILCO had indicated its intent to include relief valves on the discharge vent lines of the SCS structure.
This relief valve configuration was added to enhance Shoreham specific needs concerning elevated releases.
As a result of the preliminary analyses performed by SwedPower along with subsequent analyses performed by LILCO and its PRA contractors, modifications to the relief valve configuration are required.

The finalization of the new configuration and its input into the PRA will result in having available the PRA analysis by February 1988.
LILCO will continue to strive to improve on this completion date and provide responses to the six remaining NRC concerns as the data becomes available.
