Dear Mr. Thomas I want to take this opportunity to bring you up to date on the status of our submission of documents relative to 350 review of emer.

. gency plans for Pilgrim Station.

l While members of each of our staffs have discussed this matter over the past several senths, I do not feel that we are in a position to sub- j mit all of the necessary documents for your review at this time. However, l we continue to work on all issues raised in your October 30, 1985 letter  ;

and have made significant progress on each matter. l l

Planning Standard A - Assignment of posponsibility All signad letters of agreement will be made available, includ-  !

ing our existing letter of agreement with the U.S. Coast Award. l The ,:hanges noted for local plans will be considered during l our annual update with local officials. I Planning Standard C - Emergency Response support j' The Department of Public Health / Radiation Control program will prepare an updated list of radiological laboratories. This list will appear in the updated NIAT handbook.

Planning Standard E - Notification Procedures We are continuing to work with Boston Edison Ccepany to assure -

backup notification procedures and equipment are in place. l Decently, BECO installed a land-line telephone connecting the operating room with state Police Troop D, Middleboro.

Planning standard F - Emergency Comentnications * -

Meetings have been held between MCDA and BEco to discuss on-hancement of the Plymouth County radio not and maintenance procedure s.

Planning Standard G - Public Information An updated Dnergency Public Information brochure has been dis-tributed in the EPZ-y 8712140224 860606 ,

1 Pla.nning Standard 1 - Accident Assessment iiew state 20F procedures are being considered based upon the evaluation of the september,1985 exercise.

Planning Standard J - Protective hospense Each EOC now has the same EP2 map.

Positioning of It! for emergency workers is under discussion with SECO.

Se state policy on distribution of KI has been established by the commissioner of Public Health.

Planning standard K - Radiological Exposure Control Procedures for the reading of dosimeters by emergency workers at 15 minute intervals has been included in dosimetry kits and ,

local plans. Similar procedures are in State Police dosimetry kits.

Procedures for local officials to request ambulance services will be included in local plans, e

• Planning Standard N - Exercises and Drills

• A small scale exercise has been scheduled for october,1986.

Planning Standard 0 - TTaining A full schedule of training for respons Personnel will be established by MCDA and DPH.

Planninc Standard P - Planning Responsibility Procedures, tables, and cross references have either been com-plated or are under development.

Although this agency's resources for radiological emergency planning are extremely limited, we are making progress towards a final 350 sukais-sion.
