The purpose of this letter is to withdraw our request for deferral of the Core Shroud weld reinspection (Reference 1). The issuance of the safety evaluation for BWRVIP-07 (Reference 2) provides sufficient interim guidance for Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS). A reinspection of the Core Shroud welds is not required for the Fall 1998 refueling outage. The District is aware that the BWRVIP is still evaluating the NRC safety evaluation, and that further changes to BWRVIP-07 and the safety evaluation may occur. The District will continue to follow this issue and apply the appropriate reinspection criteria to CNS, 4
