. Duquesne Light Company (7)',

Post Office Box 4 Shippingport, Pa 15077

Dear Mr. Cross:

This letter is in response to a request from Mr. Boykan of your staff for statistics on allegations received by the NRC concoming Beaver Valley. The attached tables provide a comparison to allegations received at other operating sites for calendar years 1993,1994,1995,1996,1997 and the first seven months of 1998. You may notice changes from statistics previously reported.

The software used to count allegations has been revised to avoid " double counting" allegations that are transferred from one NRC organization to another. Additionally, the data is audited for accuracy and corrections are made as appropriate.

If either you or Mr. Boykan have any questions conceming the data, you can reach me at (301) 415-8529.

Sincerely, j
