RADIOACTIVITY LEVELS IN THE ENVIRONMENT Lobster samples collected on 9/6/75 in Niantic Bay exhibited a concentration of 0.42 pCi/g of manganese 54 which is greater than 10 times the concentration (0.03 pC1/g) observed in lobsters collected at the control station in the same quarter. . .
=m This concentration is bracketed by values previously reported by the licensee
. in routine Environmental Reports. However, due to the special reporting
(" requirements in Millstone-2's recently effective Environmental Technical Specifications, a formal Non-Routine Report is now required for this situation. Dose projections, assuming a person consumes 11 pounds of lobster meat per year, are 0.02 mrem to the gastrointestinal tract and 0.003 mrem to the whole body.
Media interest is expected because of previous coverage given this area.
The State of Connecticut has been and is being kept informed. A press release is not planned.
