(

1), concluded that previous Comed analysis had not demonstrated qualification for submergence for Okonite tape splices at l

Braidwood Station. An Unresolved Item (UPI) 50-454/455-94025-03 was initiated by the NRC Senior Resident Inrpector to track tnis issue at Byron Station.

In References 2 and 3, Comed provided an analysis to demonstrate environmental qualification (EQ) of Okonite tape splices for

" local submergence" due to a line break accident at Braidwood Station.

In Reference 4, the NRC staff determined that, for the current application at Draidwood Station, Comed had demonstrated qualification of Okonite tape splices for the potential submergence condition.

The only tape splices that were found to be acceptable were those at 3raidwood in power and control circuits located in junction and pull l' oxes.

J The application of Okonite tape splices at Byron Station is the same as 4

that at Braidwood Station.

Therefore, Comed proposes application of 1 f

~'\\

Reference 2 and 3 submittals and the safety evaluation (Reference 4) to m the resolution of the Unresolved Item for Byron Station.
