FITNESS FOR DUTY SIX MONTH REPORT JANUARY 1,1998 THROUGH JUNE 30,1998 l

Management Action:

l Management actions initiated to enhance the Fitness for Duty Program during this reporting period were:

l i

Management is conducting an overall study of a centralized drug testing lab l

for three of Entergy Operation's sites (River Bend, Waterford Ill, and Grand l

Gulf). The purpose of the study is to determine if a centralized lab for the three sites would be cost effective and continue to provide effective service.

A Standardized Chain of Custody form was initiated at three of Entergy Operation's sites (River Bend, Waterford Ill, and Grand Gulf).

Fitness for Duty initiatives Taken:

EOl conducted a FFD Program assessment at Waterford.

During this reporting period there were two remaining contractors involved in i

our follow-up program.

FFD activities supporting Refueling Outage 9 (RFO9) ran smoothly with no problems. Use of mostly onsite personnel proved to be less costly and very rewarding to those who assisted in making this another successful outage.

Random testing rate during this period was 29.7%. Yearly testing rate is 50%.

Effectiveness Evaluation:

The Fitness for Duty organization continues to update and revise procedures based on operating experience, industry lessons learned and QA audits, including those conducted at other nuclear sites, as part of the continual process of maintaining an effective program.
