Response to Generic Letter 83-28. Item 4.2 (Parts 3 and 4) -
Request for Additional Information (RAI) TAC 53907 Gentleman:
Toledo Edison (TED) has received your RAI dated September 30, 1987, concerning our initial response (Serial No. 1000 dated November 7, 1983) to Item 4.2 (Parts 3 and 4) of Generic Letter 83-28.
Parts 3 and 4 of Item 4.2 pertain to life cycle testing of an acceptable sample size of reactor trip breakers, and periodic replacement of the breakers or components consistent with demonstrated life cycles.
After discussions with Mr. Al DeAgazio (Davis-Besse NRC Project Manager),
TED understands that the RAI is generic to Babcock and Wilcox (B&W),
Combustion Engineering (CE) and most Westinghouse plants. Per telephone conversation on November 16, 1987, Mr. DeAgazio agreed that TED could delay our response until the other B&W plants received their RAIs so that we can establish a generic position through the B&W Owners Group.
Therefore Toledo Edison hereby requests that the due date be extended to February 29, 1988, at which time we will provide a schedule for the subject response.
